Radim Kaufmann is the editor and primary contributor to the Kaufmann World Encyclopedia of Premium Cigars and the rolling supplements published in this magazine.

Background

Radim Kaufmann is a Czech author, publisher, and editor whose work spans reference encyclopedias, historical fiction, business and management practice, and applied research at the intersection of technology and craft. He is the founder and editor in chief of Cigar & Cocktail Magazine, founder of the Kaufmann World Travel Factbook (kaufmann.wtf), and an independent author publishing across both the Kaufmann World reference series and several standalone volumes.

His professional life is split between writing and project leadership. He works as Project Manager for Cybernetics and Robotisation at Kion Group, overseeing the integration of automated systems and digital transformation initiatives in industrial engineering.

The Editorial Approach

His approach to premium cigars treats them not as a commodity but as the meeting point of agriculture, climate, history, craft, and disciplined judgement. The Kaufmann Cigar Score (KCS), developed across years of notebooks and lounge afternoons, is his attempt to bring structure to that judgement without flattening the pleasure of it.

He divides his time between Prague and the road. When he is not on a factory floor in Estelí, in a tasting room in the Cibao Valley, or in a London or Geneva lounge with a notebook and a slow Maduro, he is at the desk, working on the next volume.
