Issue One: Winter Wines and the Cigar Hour

Issue Notes · June 16, 2026 · By Radim Kaufmann

The debut issue of Cigar & Cocktail Magazine is built around a simple, stubborn idea: that the right pour and the right cigar, chosen with care, are greater than the sum of their parts.

The cover feature

Our opening feature, European Winter Wines for the Cigar Hour, walks through fortified and full-bodied wines that hold their own against medium and full cigars when the evenings turn cold. Think tawny ports, oloroso sherry, and a few quieter surprises from the Douated and the Rhône.

Establishing the Kaufmann Cigar Score

This issue also sets out the first KCS calibration cigars — the reference smokes against which everything else is measured. The score isn't a number pulled from the air; it's a methodology, and we show our work.

The brands we opened with

We began the brand directory where any serious reference must: Cohiba, Montecristo, Davidoff, Arturo Fuente, Padrón, My Father, and Drew Estate. Each profile is commentary and history — not advertising.
