Why Maps Matter
Premium tobacco grows in a small number of specific places. The Vuelta Abajo of Cuba, the Estelí valley of Nicaragua, the Cibao basin of the Dominican Republic, the Connecticut River Valley of New England, the highlands of Ecuador. Each region has a distinctive terroir that produces tobacco of distinctive character.
The Maps
The map gallery, when launched in Q3 2026, will include detailed color cartography for:
- Cuba — Vuelta Abajo (San Luis, San Juan y Martínez, Pinar del Río), Semi Vuelta, Partido, Vuelta Arriba
- Nicaragua — Estelí, Jalapa, Condéga, Ome (volcanic islands)
- Dominican Republic — Cibao Valley (Santiago, La Vega, Moñca region)
- Honduras — Jamastran Valley, Copan
- Ecuador — Los Ríos, El Oro, wrapper-leaf highlands
- USA — Connecticut River Valley (Connecticut Shade), Pennsylvania (broadleaf), Florida (Sun Grown)
- Other producing regions — Brazil (Bahia), Mexico (San Andrés), Cameroon, Indonesia (Sumatra), Philippines
Map Format
Each region gets:
- A high-resolution color overview map (region-scale)
- A detailed appellation map showing soil types, elevation, and microclimate zones
- A producer pin-map showing the principal factories and farms
- A historical layer showing how the region tobacco lands have evolved
